With an ever-expanding array of online resources and services, libraries are adapting to meet the evolving needs of their communities. Deseret Magazine approached me to illustrate a hero image and several spots for an article that explores how libraries have changed in order to stay relevant in the digital age.

Hero image — Readers, young and old, from various backgrounds, occupy a carpeted area in a public library and consume books in various formats.
An individual without a home takes shelter underneath a book. This spot depicts the following line, “As one of the last open public spaces with cost-free services, libraries often attract marginalized communities and homeless folks.”
Billions of Americans served.
A sad truth has surfaced in the modern age of public libraries. Some librarians have taken on a more frontline role in the face of opioid addiction, with Naloxone being freely available at libraries from Salt Lake City to New Orleans.
